With Prof. Dr. Frederike Felcht (Scandinavian Studies, Goethe University Frankfurt) and Marlène Harles
On Wednesday, April 29th at 6 pm, Marlène Harles and Frederike Felcht invite you to reflect on the current solo exhibition by the artist Britta Marakatt-Labba (born in 1951 in Sápmi) from a feminist perspective. The exhibition features delicate motifs that are meticulously embroidered onto the background fabric. Through these motifs, the artist transposes her surroundings, experiences, and observations into pictorial form. Over 60 works tell stories of Sámi cosmology, lifeworlds, and in particular, their living environment, which is increasingly threatened by extractivism and ecological destruction. Taking the exhibition as our starting point, we will use the tour to encourage a collective reflection on cycles, social decision-making processes, natural diversity and reduction.

The tours Mainz – Postcolonial want to give people in Mainz a new, different access to (their) city. The goal is to show that Mainz was involved in colonialism, to make its traces visible, and to sensitize people to its continuing effects.
The term postcolonial refers to the fact that colonialism is not merely a past era of conquest.
It is a system of power, oppression and exploitation whose structures exert influence on our present lives. In the Mainzer Neustadt are numerous examples, from street and place names such as Sömmerringplatz and Adenauer-Ufer to Mainzer Zollhafen, that we want to explore critically together.
The tours are being held in German.
