The Kunsthalle Mainz wants to give as many people as possible access to contemporary art. The entire exhibition is accessible without steps and we are strive to make all events as barrier-free as possible.

Many offers are also specifically aimed at people with disabilities. If you need assistance, please let us know.

On the two Sundays of the Mainz wine market, the Kunsthalle Mainz is offering a free hands-on activity for children.

Children will be making friendship charms out of wine corks.

For anyone who enjoys creating with clay. Two intensive days packed with ideas and creativity!

On the first day, you’ll create designs and models; on the following day, you’ll bring them to life. Whether it’s a vessel, an object or a fantasy figure – you’ll learn the technique step by step.

On 12th of September the Kunsthalle Mainz invites you to a celebration of friendship.

With a grand celebration in and around the Kunsthalle Mainz, we are celebrating the connections we have forged with the local community over the 18 years since the Kunsthalle was founded. Everyone is invited—from visitors to our past 59 exhibitions to neighbors and colleagues, as well as the countless educational institutions (from daycare centers to universities), cultural and social institutions, associations, and clubs in and around Mainz with whom we have collaborated over the years. It is an open invitation to celebrate existing relationships, foster new connections, and experience community as an open, vibrant process.

In front of the Kunsthalle, various booths will feature handicrafts, creative works, and hands-on activities. The Kunsthalle team has put together a special creative program for children that encourages them to get creative. Guided tours of the current exhibition *Freund*innenschaft* will be offered in German, Ukrainian, and for families.
As part of the festival, there will be a large communal picnic for families. We’ll wrap up the evening together with music and drinks.

The young initiative Filmmm organises experimental and artistic film screenings in Mainz. To coincide with the current exhibition, it is curating the screening series ‘Fade into You’ and presenting a programme of short films that explore the theme of friendship. You are warmly invited to come along, sit together and watch moving images.

The Fade into You series shows single-channel video works that accompany exhibitions and explore the themes of the exhibitions in greater depth, presenting both established and new positions in video art. The series, whose title is derived from the cinematographic term, has been running since 2012. External curators, experts and artists are regularly invited to curate the video screenings and talk about their selections.
