Dear visitor,
We want to do our part to ensure that as few people as possible are affected by COVID-19 and that the virus spreads slowly.
Therefore, Kunsthalle Mainz will remain closed until Sunday, 03/05. Our entire program including the children’s and youth art school is cancelled.
We will inform you about further developments as soon as possible.
In the meantime, we are increasingly active in the virtual space. The newsletter and post on Thursday have already initiated Kunsthalle Mainz @home. For now, we are going digitally. We keep you up to date with our weekly newsletter, on Facebook, Instagram and on our website. Our current exhibition offers inspiration as well as artists who have exhibited with us in the past years and who will contest the coming weeks with us.
The title of the work “Diary of a Leap Year” by Rabih Mroué forms the starting point for a new format in which artists devote themselves to the idea and the opportunities of an additional day. Because 2020 is also a leap year – a very special one. This year too, art helps to understand, gives space to share feelings and knowledge and connects us with each other.
Every Monday we share a brief review of a past exhibition – Rabih Mroué makes the start himself. This is complemented on Fridays by a current contribution by the respective artist, which was developed exclusively for Kunsthalle Mainz @home. What questions do the artists ask of our present day? And what stories will we tell about 2020?
With this in mind, we look forward to many enriching, shared moments and to welcoming you back at Kunsthalle Mainz in person soon.
Until then: Take care of yourself and your fellow human beings!
Your entire Kunsthalle Mainz team
