The Kunsthalle Mainz wants to give as many people as possible access to contemporary art. The entire exhibition is accessible without steps and we are strive to make all events as barrier-free as possible.

Many offers are also specifically aimed at people with disabilities. If you need assistance, please let us know.

Every Thursday the Open Workshop invites you to join in different materials for building, painting and drawing. The Open Workshop is closed on public holidays and vacations. Only children with prior registration can participate.

The Open Workshop is supported by Künste Öffnen Welten from the Bundesvereinigung Kulturelle Kinder- und Jugendbildung and is aimed at children who are growing up in a risky situation. In the Künste Öffnen Welten program, cultural, youth and educational institutions are supported in jointly implementing projects for children and young people in which they can discover the arts, culture, games and media. This strengthens their educational and participation opportunities. There will be no Open Workshop during vacations.

Discover stories, read together, get creative Do you enjoy reading or want to discover new stories? Then the Kunsthalle Mainz Reading Club is the perfect place for you! Once a week, children ages 9 to 12 meet to discover exciting books together, read stories, and discuss them. But it’s not just about reading and listening: the stories come to life through creative activities, artistic experiments, and collaborative projects. In an inspiring atmosphere, we explore new books, share our ideas, and let the stories inspire us to create our own pictures, texts, and projects. No prior experience is required—all that matters is the joy of discovery and participation.

Would you like to get creative with your hands and make your own works of art out of clay? In the ceramics workshop at the Kunsthalle Mainz, you’ll explore the many possibilities of this material and develop your own ideas step by step.

Over four Saturday mornings, we’ll shape, mold, and decorate bowls, figurines, vessels, and imaginative objects. We’ll draw inspiration from works of art, exhibitions, and exciting themes. From the first sketch to the finished ceramic piece, we’ll guide you through the creative process and explore various clay-working techniques together.

The workshop offers a space to try things out, experiment, and create. No prior experience is required.

Have you ever dreamed of letting your imagination fly? Do you want to create your own artistic worlds? Then you've come to the right place! At each meeting, we go on a journey together to discover and create different projects. From painting and drawing to crafting, modeling and other exciting art forms - we have something for everyone!

The course will only take place with a minimum of 6 children. Otherwise the course will be canceled 2 days before the start of the course.
