The Kunsthalle Mainz wants to give as many people as possible access to contemporary art. The entire exhibition is accessible without steps and we are strive to make all events as barrier-free as possible.

Many offers are also specifically aimed at people with disabilities. If you need assistance, please let us know.

from 8 to 12 years

In the first week of the summer holidays we will start with an animation workshop for you. From flip books to clay animation, you will learn many different ways to create a cartoon with us. We test physical forces, create optical illusions and give plenty of space for your imagination and creativity.

from 6 to 10 years

In this workshop we go on a journey into a dream world. Based on a Sámi story and various painting techniques, you create your own works of art and let your imagination run wild.

Do you like working with sound? Then you've come to the right place. We'll show you simple techniques with which you can model fantasy characters or animals. Every child is allowed to have a figure burned by us.

Two-day holiday workshop

In our nature lab, nature becomes our studio! Together, we discover how colorful the plant world really is: we make our own colors from leaves, flowers, and roots and experiment with various natural materials.
Using sticks, stones, leaves, and everything else we find outside, we will create imaginative works of art—sometimes wild, sometimes delicate, but always unique! In the process, the children will learn in a playful way how much creativity nature has to offer and how we can use it mindfully.
