Bodies in Motion – Form in the Making
08/11/24—16/02/25
Cinthia Marcelle & Tiago Mata Machado, Suzanne Harris, Bruce Nauman, Charlotte Posenenske, Yvonne Rainer
In her performance-based video works, many of which are joint productions with Tiago Mata Machado, Brazilian artist Cinthia Marcelle isolates everyday movements and routinised work processes from their functional and production-oriented context. She transforms the mostly collaborative, participatory situations into poetic, metaphorical images that challenge established routines of social interaction and the performance-oriented doctrine of modern societies.
The exhibition Bodies in Motion – Form in the Making focuses on these performative, mostly task-oriented video performances and, for the first time ever, contextualises them alongside icons of post-minimalist dance and performance from the 1960s/70s such as Yvonne Rainer, Bruce Nauman, Suzanne Harris and the performative/participatory approach to creation displayed in Charlotte Posenenske’s minimalist sculptures.
The Exhibition is curated by Anna Roberta Goetz.
With the kind support of the estate of Charlotte Posenenske, Galerie Mehdi Chouakri, Berlin.
